R&D and investment projects

So far, we have successfully completed several unique R&D and investment projects. We intend to implement even more.

Our projects, both completed and ongoing ones, were co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (Operational Programme Innovative Economy for the period 2007-2013, Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020 or Regional Operational Programme for Łódzkie Voivodeship 2014-2020).

Description of the project: As a result of an investment that was completed in February 2012 and consisted in the implementation of innovative technology of production of highly reactive sorbents with the use of electromagnetic activation, a new production plant was opened where ground products are manufactured. The investment was aimed to implement an advanced and innovative technology – the need to expand the existing unit resulted from the company development strategy and consisted in the search for new business opportunities. Implementation of the new technology was only possible due to erection of the complex of modern production plants as well as welfare and technical facilities, acquisition of innovative process equipment, establishing an R&D department and initiation of research collaboration with a third-party research centre.

Description of the project: The project consisted in implementation of P. 399067 invention (patent pending) dated 6 May 2012 entitled: “Method of production of resin-impregnated stone slabs” into our operation. The project will result in developing an innovative product in the form of resin-impregnated stone slabs of natural stone with biocidal properties. New products stand out for their innovation in terms of functionality and essential characteristics which distinguish them from competitive products on the market. Stone slabs are used in the form of a variety of products particularly as floor and wall tiles, stairs and treads, window sills, kitchen & sink countertops and other design elements of kitchens, bathrooms, halls as well as office, hotel, hospital and restaurant rooms, and more. The implementation of the project related to the establishment of production plant consisting of a complex of industrial facilities equipped with state-of-the-art stone processing machines and the construction of storage yard and social-office building.

Description of the project: The aim of the project was to implement a globally innovative technology for the production of ultrapure feed from limestone. The applied technology is based on the introduction of limestone feed for cleaning contaminated aggregates into the production cycle of Raciszyn mine (limestone feed refining plant). The refining process is based on an innovative recipe of an ecological, biodegradable flocculant to facilitate the separation of water from solids and to accelerate sludge sedimentation. The use of this innovative technology allows us to offer high quality and purity of the feed, and thus it ensures the optimisation of the extraction process – rational and sustainable exploitation of the deposit. In addition, the project significantly limited the degree of negative impact on the environment compared to the solutions commonly used in the industry.

Description of the project: The project consisted in the upgrade of our existing system and IT infrastructure in order to implement the electronic exchange of documents and handling of B2B processes. The aim of the future B2B system was to automate, systematise and standardise cooperation with business partners in terms of processes such as offers, order processing, sales, production orders, and to improve the effectiveness of accounting processes. This project allowed to improve competitiveness of the Company in the market. Moreover, implementation of the system contributed to further development of the company and winning new markets.

Description of the project: The aim of the project was to develop a technological concept for the production of new-generation ultrapure nano precipitated calcium carbonate (NPCC) with the use of limestone material from the „Wierzbica” and „Raciszyn” deposits. Direct implementation of the project consisted in research that included industrial activities and development works as well as the activities aimed at preparing the results of research works to implementation. The developed technology of production, tailored to the parameters of specific high class and high purity material that we have, will make it possible for WKG to market the ultrapure nano precipitated calcium carbonate. This highly pure filler and pigment will be used in the building, food processing, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and other industries

Description of the project: The project consists in the expansion of existing Research and Development Department in WKG towards conducting a wide range of application tests of advanced functional coatings on stone surfaces. The scope of the Centre activities shall cover the problems related to manufacturing and application of coatings on mineral stone surface and focus on developing alternative methods to the commonly used ones. The implementation of the project involves the purchase of testing stands for analysing the process of applying coatings as well as laboratory equipment for testing them.

Description of the project: The project is aimed at development of product concept for a new type of advanced building materials based on alkali activated aluminosilicates with the use of Raciszyn clay as raw material. The main result of the project will be a new production technology and an innovative product – foamed block with the durability of silicate and insulating properties of aerated concrete with higher physical and chemical parameters which are unreachable for products that are currently available on the construction market. The use of alkali activated aluminosilicates in the production of advanced building materials will directly translate into obtaining final products with planned properties.
